    Default US honing service needed

    Hi,

I bought a DublDuck "Satin Edge" on eBay in nice condition awhile ago, but haven't had any luck shaving with it despite repeated stropping. I don't have any prior experience with "real" straight razors, but I do shave regularly with a $6 disposable-blade straight razor, so I'm guessing the problem isn't entirely my technique. The dublduck just doesn't cut my hair, despite being advertised as "shave ready".

Please let me know if there's any reputable member out there who I could send my razor to have the bevel inspected and sharpened if necessary! I live in the Midwest but I can certainly ship the razor anywhere in the continental US.

(I checked the Member Services forum but only found one posting in East Canada).

    Thanks,

    Charlie

If the usual suspects are too busy or unavailable this is something that I could take care of. I'm in California.

Thanks for the replies! Member "prodigy" was the first to contact me and he seems to have a good reputation on this site, so I'm going to ship it off to him.

Your razor is back to tip top, shave ready condition. I was tricked haha, only kidding, a little. There was some serious uneven hone wear and the stabilizers had been eaten into pretty good. Reshaped the heel and straightened out the edge. Lots of time on the chosera 1k before going up through my naturals. Finished on my newest, and exceptionally amazing nakayama Maruka iromono. Good luck!

Received the razor yesterday. WOW -- it shaves beautifully and I don't know how you managed to fix the stabilizers too but it makes a big difference! Thanks so much.

When it comes to fixing stabilizers, depending on the severity, I use a Dremel if they are pretty bad. The edges those ducks take are quite impressive! Enjoy
