Default How often should you hone a razor?

I have only had my only razor honed once in two years.

I just ordered a second razor so I can always have one freshly honed.

I can't believe you only had 1 razor for 2 years. lol. That sounds about right once every 2 years to have your razor honed. What is your maintenance routine? What razor do you have and what else did you get?

Good to have a backup. You are doing it the right way, I expect.

I hone mine and strop them thereafter. Seldom back to the hones. I do have a few, however.

Sounds as if you are doing the right thing.

how often? only when they need it, which isn't often once you know how to shave and strop. honing for a living is something else but just for shaving , the hones get dusty and lonely. Tc

I agree. My razors last a long time between honing too.
