Thanks for the advice. I have decided to let somebody else hone my Razors.

Unless you are rescuing antique razors from antique stores, getting them honed by someone else isn't a bad plan, but I would at least invest in a pasted strop or barber hone to keep them going as long as possible. I've got a few that I honed years ago that still shave just fine with only stropping on a CrOx pasted paddle when needed

its been said already ,,, depends on what your doing, if shaving is what you want then send them out. restoration and selling used razors you might want to learn, but I can tell you I have sepnt a bunch of money on hones , but I send mine out to be honed, it isn't much money cause my edges are right so they last. the recommendation of getting one finish hone si a good one, that way you can "MAINTAIN" your edge with just a few light laps, and a 12k naniwa don't cost much or if you really want a finisher a Gk 20k. and I just got rid of the one I had, so it really lies in the reality of what your going to do, now if a new skill set intriques you then by all means its only money that you really don't get much use out of, mthats why I started selling off mine,, collecting dust cause they don't need honed very often unless your edges sucked or you damaged it...
