Default Lapping Arkansas hone on DMT?

Do you guys think I can lap Arkansas hones on my DMT? It would be great if I could do it somewhat quickly, 'cause that's a real bear from what I hear.

But I don't want to wreck my plate, either. Suggestions?

    Josh,
Arkansas stones may be hard, but they are nowhere near as hard as diamonds. That DMT plate should do the trick, and fairly quickly too.

I have an 8 x 3 hard white ark. Lapping it chewed through about 5 sheets of high-quality sandpaper – the thing is hard. I'm sure the professor is right that diamonds are harder, but it's plenty hard and I've even started using it for lapping my other stones. I had to find some use for it – I bought it thinking it'd be a natural alternative to the Norton 1K for bevel creation (yeah, right).

Yes you definately can. I lapped my translucent arkansas on my DMT course stone and it worked very well. The arkansas took longer than any other stone that I have flattened; however, you will definately get there with some patience.

DMT course diamond hones are great for flattening other hones even Arkansas stone. You will not wear the DMT out even after yrs of use.
