Anyone know anything about this one?
Picked it up at the antique mall.

Thanked: 28I'm going to take a guess- without seeing the side of the stone (if you post that you can get better input) it is a natural coticule with rouge du salm on the back. There is some crazing on the top of the yellow coti side. I don't think there is any way to evaluate it other than hone on it and see what kind of edge it produces. I am interested to hear others points of view.

Thanked: 3795It definitely is a barber hone and not a coticule. I have an unlabeled one with dark swirls like that one but I have no information about it.

Thanked: 28@utopian For my own education- I see that from the side it is not a coticule. Was another clue the crazing? I don't think a coticule would do that- more of a synthetic thing?
For the OP there is a lot of information on barber hones, but there are so many different ones sometimes you can't find info on a particular one. Keep in mind too that the same hone could be manufactured under different names (resellers)
