    Default antique razor whetstone

I'm looking for information about a whetstone I've had for some time, its quite old but of an unusual design, I think its some sort of manufactured stone as it has a label impressed into one side wich is in german, and it is brown in color. I was puzzled by it for years as it was much to fine for knives and I dident really know about straight razors. any information that can be provided would be appreciated.

Does it read "Franz Swaty" on the label? The dark brown color sounds like a Swaty, although those were made in Austria.

It's almost certainly a barber hone, which were usually medium to fine hones used for putting a finished edge on a razor. There were countless brands made, so we may not be able to help you much beyond that.
