Thanked: 156Steve 56 and Utopian...sorry...I got carried away trying to understand the issue at hand I ioverlooked the possibility of a straight spine and warped/overground/underground hollow.
I was just trying to help.
Any problem we can solve is something we can all benefit from.
@Mikali...dont worry...sometimes some blades are difficult no matter how you treat them.
It looks like you got the frown out.
^^^^^^
Also looks like what rodb is saying is right.
If the middle of the blade is indeed warped to the side with the stamp there is little you can do about it...the froun will return.
It looks more like a consequence of warping after heat treat...then poor grinding.
@Rodb do you remember how you got those to shave?...did you use a narrow hone?Last edited by ovidiucotiga; 08-01-2017 at 08:40 PM.

Thanked: 481Looks almost exactly like my Dovo did at one point. It started to frown, and had the same symptoms. Fat bevel at toe and heel, skinny in the center on one side. Other side was the reverse. Kinda wanted to start frowning too. I adapted my strokes like GsSixgun said. Start with the blade 45 degrees to the hone and swoop through the stroke. The rest sort of corrected itself over time. The bevel is still snakey, but the blade shaves good.

Thanked: 6I can imagine it took a while for the blade to correct itself? I've been doing like 70 or 80 x 45°, heel forward, swooping x's to kinda get rid of the frown, but still on side, the toe is not coming along.
Doing a rolling x barely touches that toe...
Will give it another try tonight and will post pics with the marker so you can clearly see where it is lacking ...
