Thanked: 0Celestron is a big name and they make good telescopes, and decent optics.
If you go to a Leica, Zeiss or Nikkon you are starting to get into the high end, which for this particular use would be unecessary and slightly excessive (but that's just my opinion)

I love microscopes. They rock for helping you to learn. Its not a far step though to go from microscopic observation to just doing a thumbnail test. You can see an edge pretty well with reading glasses, good light, and some gentle rocking motion. This stuff might be a little technology overkill.
