Thread: Joh. Engstrom-help?

Hi guys. I've got a nice little Joh. Engstrom 5/8 Red Devil Razor that I'm having some trouble getting as sharp as I'd like.
I can get it to easily pass the HHT, and with most of my razors I usually then go to the coticule for 30-50 laps and then to newspaper for 20-30laps. I've gone as far as the coticule with the Engstrom which usually gives a great shave. However I am getting quite alot of pulling with this stubborn razor. I've made sure there is no wire edge.
I'm going to take it to the newsprint tonight and see what happens but was just wondering what others have used to successfully hone their Engstroms? Thanks in advance!

Brian - I have used several things, on different Engstroms:

Norton 4k/8k + Chromium
Y/G Escher + Chromium
Japanese natural, NO Chromium

Currently working on one that was sold by Tiffany's - Have used Coticule and Japanese natural so far. Needs more work, though - and then I'll probably finish with some Chromium, followed by newspaper
