Is this an Arkansas stone?
Hi guys --- I was just given a Col. Conk hone. It is light gray and attached to a paddle. From what I can find out on the web, that company only sells one hone and at different sites it was refered to it as a "surgical stone," a natural arkansas stone and a touch up stone. Does anyone here have any experience or knowlege of the hone. Does anyone know how fine a grit it is and the quality of the hone.

Thanks for the links to sites about arkansas stones. They helped to give me an idea of the general grit of the stone, maybe 6k to 8k, if I'm not mistaken.
But-- is there anyone on the forum that has any experience with the Col. Conk brand stone or heard anything good or bad about it.

Thanked: 2209During the past 3 years I have not heard one person that was pleased with the Col Conk hone. About 2 years ago one of the websites that were selling that hone rated it at 1200 grit. That would be referring to the size of the abrasive grain. However, if it is a translucent Arkansas then it may be effectively 6K or finer.
