Anyone have experience with the "SE Illuminated Pocket Microscope 30X" viewable here:
Amazon.com: SE Illuminated Pocket Microscope 30X: Toys & Games
Battery type? I'm tired of using up AAA batteries with the MicroShack 60x-100x microscope. I swear they sell that thing just to increase battery sales. An LED has got to be better.

Thanked: 1371Rather than spending time writing insulting posts, perhaps you could have spent a few more seconds reading the page you linked to:
Product Description
30X In Your Pocket This nice pocket microscope is compact to carry and easy to use when you need a clear, close 30X look at coins, stamps, insects or assorted minutiae. The 5-3/4" x 1-5/8" x 3/4" black-plastic magnifier has a focus knob, a small led bulb for illumination, an on/off switch, and a protective vinyl carrying case. It requires (2) "AA" batteries.Last edited by HNSB; 08-16-2011 at 11:32 PM.

Oh. That's good. Thanks. (Haven't ever purchased on amazon yet, either.) So there's the chance it could have a regular bulb type light and not be LED? Good to know.. considering my purchasing luck with equipment.

Thanked: 2209FWIW.... my experience has been with a 30x that has a bulb, not an LED. From what I have seen in person most of the inexpensive 30X scopes use a bulb, not an LED.
I find the description of "LED bulb" to be confusing, I have never thought that an LED could be described as a bulb, but maybe technology terms has gotten farther ahead of me than I thought.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
