    Default Question about Kuro Nagura

Just got this and am not sure where it fits into the nagura progression with a OOzuku Jnat. Is it a finisher?

Stone is roughly cubical and is lacquered on 5 sides. Creates a gray-black slurry.

    Definitely not a finisher.
Iv'e used mine for bevel setting . I wouldn't use it near end game.
I suppose if you work it long time but why bother when there are finer nagura .

Thank you for the information. I haven’t used my Jnat very much and don’t have a progression of nagura stones. This one was recommended to me and was a reasonable price.

You have presented some differences of opinion about this stone - from one stone homer to finisher to not so much. Interesting.

Guess I’ll play around with it on my OOzuku and see how it works with a variety of blades. Your responses have given me some assurance that I have a nagura that might be quite versatile.

Tsushima nagura is not fine enough to finish on. A typical use would be right after 1k and before other nagura.

I really need to try an Asano nagura progression, I have never tried it. My current progression is synthetic up to 8 or 12k then JNAT or just a mist of tomo or DN slurry
