    Default New to Shave Ready

I’ve recently purchased 4 NOS Puma Straight Razors. I’ve had one in my shave rotation for a long time. It was made in the 70s. It was a new razor someone had given my Father in Law who was a Barber. It shaves so smooth I sometimes have to make sure the edge is on my face. I started straight razor shaving in the early 80s.

In all those years I’ve only purchased a Brand New razor once befor last week. I bought two Dovos with Pearlex handles in 1995.

The Pumas were no where shave ready. I honed them and text shaved with the 5/8 yesterday. It was not quite where I wanted t so I worked on it some more yesterday and shaved with it again this morning and it was really not very. Used Martin De Candre Soap for the first time and used a new Thater Shave Brush for the first time.

I hope the four NOS Pumas will shave as nice as the one I’ve been using a long time. If these are as good I’ll likely have 5 Pumas and two Dovos for my seven day rotation.

How did these turn out for you? I've heard good things about Pumas, so I assume these will be great shavers for you.

I see you are in PCB. I hope to move there or to the Clearwater area in five years or so.
