Which honing tape?
I just bought a roll of Scotch 700 (7mil) electrical tape for taping the spine.
I've used this brand before with no problems, but this time the adhesive
seemed to melt and run when used with honing oil or Smith's solution.
Is there a better choice of tape, or did I just get a bad batch?"If you come up to it, and you just can't do it, then that's jolly well where you are."

I got this huge roll from MikeB52 a long while back . I am about halfway through it.
I dunno as it is much thicker, but it is really tough. Best thing I have used.

I recently started into a new roll of 3M Super 88....but turns out I really meant to get the 700. D'oh!
I looked into 3M Kapton tape but am too cheap to spend 4-5x over what 3M vinyl electrical tape costs.Last edited by Speedster; 07-22-2018 at 03:36 AM. Reason: added kapton bit

I have been using the 89ยข electrical tape from Walmart for years.
It works very well and I've never had a problem with it.

I'm with the super 88, especially the colored rolls.
