    Default Honing advice?

Well my current honing process consist of a pyramid with the norton 4000/8000 then i move to the Chinese 12k stone and on occasion after that i will use Theirs-Issard white paste. Now my question is I read that the white paste is around 10000 grit should i use this before the chinese 12k?

I found that reference over at Classicshaving.com. I'm not sure I would rely on that grit number. I think I would follow the stone with stropping a little on paste, either alone should do the trick though.

I edited my post after I found the reference. I think the last I heard it was higher than 10K. I would use it either after or instead of the 12K stone. I think its higher than 10k.

I don't think there is a better. I like stones myself but they took a while to learn how to use. I think pastes are a little easier for beginners. I find that a lot of opinion on "better" is based on personal, random experience.

Your in the perfect spot to try both and tell us what you think.

Well ive used both together and separately, and in my opinion the paste gets the edge smoother but the stone can get it a little sharper. but i will continue to experiment. thanks again
