How long can a razor go without having to be paste stropped after a good honing. I have a razor that was honed by lynn, and it feels like its pulling a bit after 1 month. That may be due to my stropping technique, or because i stupidly did a thumbnail test as soon as I received it not knowing that it would kill it. Just wondering how long does a Hone usually last.

In the hands of someone that knows what he is doing about 2 months, depending on the courseness of the beard and many other factors. Given the thumbnail test you performed, one month is extraordinary! Thats Lynn for ya.

yeah....that was a pretty bone head move on my part. I just wanted to feel what a properly honed razor was suppose to feel like with a thumb nail test. I didnt realize it was a way to test while honeing. IM happy though cause Lynn is honeing a Filly 7/8 for me now...so ill be able to test a real Lynn honed razor soon :P

I got 2 shaves from a Lynn-honed razor before it started pulling. That said, I have a very thick beard, and I was just starting out! It's still pretty good though, I use a pasted paddle strop in between shaves (just the 1.0 and .5 sides).

Im waiting for it to come in from Tony now. My beard isnt to think...i just think I ruined it with the test. 10 laps on the 1 and 10 on the .5......then move to the leather right
