So if a light lap does not remove this hard piece of grit your stone is faulty. It may come good if you take 1/8" of the surface. If not get another stone.

I went back today and relapped the 8k several times until I could run the razor down it without it feeling like there were any high points. It took a couple lapping trips. That being said I believe I got a better finish off it, yet I still have striation lines. I am little confused on what I should be getting here since I am seeing striations with brand new safety razor blades as well, so I don't know if its just how I have the light set up/angle.
