Thanks Lou for posting the pics.

The ones with a match: left is a vintage Thueringer, the right one is the Mueller Thueringer ( Manufactum Thueringer). The Mueller Thuringer has some pyrite inclusions and looks and feels coarser than the vintage one on the left.
The lowest picture shows the label of the vintage Thueringer.

THe electron micragraph shows the slurry of both stones which looks identical. Original Thueringer = vintage Thueringer.

The Chinese 12K also works well as a finishing hone. It is just a little slow. Frankly, for sharpness I prefer the Chinese 12k but for comfort I prefer the escher, thuringen over the coticule. But... that is all personal preference. And I always finish with a 0.5 micron chrome oxide pasted strop. Again for comfort plus a level of sharpness that agrees with me.

Could anybody help me finding a supplier of 12 K Chinese hones with a homepage to get some further info on these products....since I still do not really trust most things that are produced in China...

Aren´t there any other recommendable finishing hones which are still being produced and available?
Some time ago I received another vintage "Duro Razor Hone" which caught my attention on Ebay but... darn it... that thing sucks!
I have also bought two other vintage "Razor Hones" in the past and those suck, too!!!
Since these things were actually called "Razor Hones" and made specially for honing straight razors I expected them to surprise me in a positive way?
    Well, they did not!!!!!

By now I consider the (new and still available) Mueller/Manufactum Thueringer the best finishing Hone I have had but I am still looking for others maybe better ones.

    Best regards

    Here you go...

I have one of these and like it very much. The hone does need to be lapped flat before use however.
