    Default Unimpressed with LeeValley

Just a simple heads up. I ordred my Norton 4000-8000 from LeeValley over a month ago. The wrong hone showed up nearly two weeks later. I thought "no big deal, accidents happen." and I sent it back to them.
Three weeks after that I yet again recieved the WRONG HONE. What in the world am I going to do with a 100-300 grit hone? I sent it back once again, this time telling them to refund my money. Hopefully, I will have better luck with Classicshaving.
Word of the wise, Leevalley obvioulsly has miserable customer service. When I called them back the second time I recieved the wrong hone they they were unsympathetic and said just send it back and they will send another one. I refused and told them just to refund the amount spent.
    Better luck next time.

never tried ordering online as I have a leevalley locally and have always been pleased (even though i was not pleased with the norton). I like to talk to the guys there as I don't think it's all that often that a a 21yr old walks in with an interest in woodworking and honing and the likes

Default First class service from Howard

I can assure you that Howard's service is first class! Classic Shaving charges a little more for the Norton but their service is also first class.

Lee Valley is a good company with some great and unique woodworking products, but their focus is on woodworking -- not razors. For razor honing, you'll be much better dealing with one of the specialists like Howard.

I haven't ordered from LV for several years, but they had good service back then. Sorry to hear they've gone down hill.
