alas I am embarrassed to give any advice at this time. had an old Joseph Rodgers I cleaned up with MAAS. It sat untouched for a week or two and one night while watching television I thought I would run it on a stone or two. Let's just say the moment was over when my focus slipped from razor to television. (last time that will happen). I will go back to listing to iTunes next time.
Hmm does that mean I need to dig out my Tote n Chip card from BSA and surrender it to the nearest troop?

A few months after I started honing, I was touching up a razor that had been well honed by Bill Ellis. I was using a small waterstone that fit in the palm of my hand, and I found that I could hone pretty quickly that way. Stroke, flip, stroke, flip, stroke.... SCREEEEECH. I carved a section out of the side of the hone with the heel of the razor... Left some pretty deep chips in the edge. Man, it sure took me a while to hone those out. I don't watch TV anymore while honing either.
