    Where does this fit in the continuum? I picked this up last week for $10. Seemed like a must have. Where does it fit between the 8k and the .5 strop? Or does it?

    This one looks like it's a finishing hone, mostly for blade touchups. Unfortunately I don't know the grit.. Could be anywhere b/w 6 and 12k. Probably not bad for extended trips if you're only bringing one razor.

    The lapping stone really cuts qucikly against the stone creating fine dust.

    Barber hones are generally hard, so once it's lapped, chances are you won't need to lap the hone very often (once a year may be an overkill).
