Thread: yellow coticule and swaty

i have recently purchased a new yellow coticule and a swaty off of ebay.

can these two sharpening surfaces be used in conjunction? or do people feel that the coticule should be the last hone surface i use before going to a strop? is the swaty indeed little more than a novelty or is it a viable part of a process of honing?

i have heard people mention that they use their swaty hones for "upkeep"...a few swipes every few shaves. is a coticule likewise appropriate for this?

not sure if i am even asking this question correctly. i guess i am just asking how seriously people treat swatys with regard to other honing surfaces

I have both.
I like more the edge produced by the yellow coticule
For touch ups I use the yellow coticule
I keep the swaty to my travel set ( it is a very fast cutting hone that produce a fine edge but is easy to overhone)
