    Default hone progress?

hello people!....it is possibile that many passes on the green paste could decrease the cutting power?

i have a very hard hard beard..and sensitive skin..

    i have made this:
belgian yellow 30 lap (10 slurry 20 without) 200 passes on green paste ...100 strop .......very smooth shave but the cutting power seem decrease a bit...to the precedent shaving session..

( i have a small mastro livi strop) and the razor is always my TI 5/8

    thanks

    Danzyc,
I'm by no means any authority on honing, being completely and utterly crap at it myself, but I read something about this a few weeks ago on these forums.

From what I can gather (and please, anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), honing your razor on a pasted strop creates a much finer edge (especially with 200 passes on a pasted strop) than just on the stone alone, but also decreases the cutting power on heavy beards. I think it has something to do with the thickness of the leading edge of the razor and how a pasted strop makes the edge very thin an prone to dulling far more quickly. I also remember something about the fact that a pasted paddled edge doesn't have the same weight (being honed to a wirery thinness) as a razor that was just honed using the stones, and thus reduces cutting power.

Again, this is my recollection of a thread I read a few weeks ago, so take it for what it's worth.

    Good luck!

    Mark
