Thanked: 0leading edge on the coticule?
Do you use the coticule with the spine as the leading edge or
are you using it as a regular hone with the edge leading?
When I read the thread as using the coticule as a finishing stone I started to wonder!
I use the norton 4k/8k and then paddle strops with paste.

Thanked: 108With any stone – including finishing stones – you go edge leading. The only "honing" you'll ever do leading with the spine is on a pasted strop, and the only reason is so as not to cut the leather.
"Finishing" is still honing. It's just your last hone, that's all.

Thanked: 0Thanks
Thanks for the reply! I figured that with stones you lead with the edge! But, I just had to ask. I know that a over-Honed blade is done with the spine leading.
