Default Rust on my diamond hone!!!

I have a diamond hone dmt, i only use it to lap my norton/coticle...i have only used it 3 or 4 times....and the other day i picked it up and had really bright orange rust spots..anybody knows what to do to remove them?
can i lap my stones like this???
Its not the famous dmt 325 that everybody has ...but i know its a dmt...so its supoussed to be a quality piece...it has a wood base and only the surface seems to be metal....

You can usually scrub the rust off with a green scotchbrite pad and some scouring powder, like the Comet stuff people use in the bathroom. Gets the hone all nice and shiny.

The main problem I have is actually the metal filings rusting and staining the hone. I have scrubbed it off a few times, but it comes back after a razor or two, so I don't bother anymore.

    Good luck,
    Josh
