    Default Order of honing

    Hi,

I have a DMT 8K, Chinese 12K, and Tony Miller paddle strop with paste on 3 sides-- 3.0, 1.0, and .5.

With this setup, does anyone have any suggestions (assuming the razor is not shave ready but does not need any repair work) what order would one use with that equipment to get the best edge?

    Thanks.

Basically the same order you have listed them in, minus the 3u paste.
8K should be equivalent to 3u, so doing the 3u paste after the 12 will undo the 12K polish. And doing it after the 8K would be redundant.

    Default Progressive honing

Honing is a progressive process that progresses from coarser hones to finer hones. Stropping is the last process before shaving.

I'd probably skip the 1.0 paste coming off the 12K. But you need to experiment. The least you need to do with the edge the better off you will be.

    8k, 12k, 0.5 paste

For touchups use the 1.0 and 0.5. If thats not enough then back up to the 12k. If thats not enough then back up to either the 8K or 3.0

    Hope this helps,
