Well, I don't have anything to compare it to, but it gets the blade nice and sharp. After some trial and error I have been using it with a light slurry after a synthetic 3k waterstone, finish on water, and then do some laps on chromium oxide. It was able to nicely refresh my W&B after 3 weeks of use with about 40 water laps, rinsing under the faucet every 10. It doesn't feel like a soft stone, but again I have nothing to compare it to.
