Conk Hone: water?
Hi team,
I'm working on a really shabby old razor with nicks in the blade, so I've gone back to my Col Conk Hone (I believe its around 1000grit), that came with my strop.
I know not many people out there use the Conk, but does anyone know if it's supposed to be used with water?
Thanks
c

yes. I have one and use it frequently; I use it as I would a waterstone.
Please note that it is MUCH smoother than 1000grit (current wisdom suggests 2500-4000 grit or so, my microscope agrees with this) so if you are trying to use it to remove chips in the blade, you are going to be at it a LONG time.

Really? its that fine? A wow I didn't know. But you're right I've been going at it a long long time.
I gave in and used a super coarse one (unknown grit), I'm now going back to the Conk.
thanks for the advice.

Conk
I have the Conk hone, got it with my Conk razor.
It is a surprisingly useful little hone, and overpriced, to boot!
