    Arkansas translucent. Some guys like this for a finishing hone; I've never tried it.

    Thanks f6r the answer - I just bought a Arkansas Black. Then its probably no idea buying this aswell?

    As I understand it the black and translucent are similar in grit, with the translucent a little finer. But I am absolutely not an authority on these. There are a few authorities on these on SRP, and I'm sure they'll chime in.

    I have heard/read the same - and the black I bought is new while the one above seems well-used...
