I'm sure I'll be posting journals of my learning process and asking LOTS of questions. Thankfully I've got some great support here
Now I just can't wait! I've got 3 razors prime for honing, so I'm just biding my time until the hones get here.

It will take 2 to 3 years to become a honemeister. My recommendation is to hone lots of sharp things to get lots of experience, get familiar with abrasives, mechanical issues such as flatness and lapping, get some serious magnification so you can see what you're actually doing. Work towards getting repeatable results. Study basic metallurgy, heat treating, and mineralogy. That should get you started.
