Magnetized blade and steel hone

I had an interesting experience this AM.

I have a vintage J. Wiss & Sons razor which I picked up from a forum member. I tried to work on the edge on a DMT 8K. The razor was magnetized and stuck to the hone with quite a bit of force, a condition which makes light honing absolutely impossible. I don't own a Norton or other non-steel hone, which would have solved the problem nicely.


Then I remembered a tape demagnitizer form the old days when audio/computer tapes were popular. I got it out, plugged it in and ran it along the spine. Problem solved.

Now if I could just learn how to hone.
