Default New 4k/8k - minor chips

    Good Day Fellas,

Was just wondering, is it normal for a new Norton 4k/8k to have chips around the corners? Very small little 'dings' that are not there on the 220/1000 that came alongside it.

If the "dings are near enough the corners, they shouldn't bother your razor. On the other hand, have you lapped your stone and rounded the edges yet? Chances are those little dings may disappear. To round the edges, I take a small strip of sandpaper and do the "shoeshine" thing to it. About 4" long and maybe an inch and a half wide.

Rounding the edges make a lot of difference, as does lapping.
Be sure to rub the surface with your hand under running water when you are done, just to make sure that there is no grit left on the surface of the stone.
