Default How long should a Norton 4k/8k last?

I've been eyeing these and have wanted a super fine grit bench stone for a long time. My recent foray into straight razors may be the final justification.

However, it concerns me that folks say that these are soft and need lapped fairly often. To me this means tons of wear and short stone life.

How long will one of these last?

Well, I have about 90 straights and have been straight shaving almost 5 years and the 4K side of my Norton is really getting down there. I would say by years end I will have to replace it. However if you don't do much restoration it should last way longer.

At one point Lynn said he has worn out about 5 nortons over 8000+ razors.

I have not been honing for such a long time, but I can see a difference between the yellow and white sides.

Being able to hone > 1500 razors with a 65$ stone is good value for money imo.
