Here is a relevant, recent thread about grit on your Norton. To make a long story shorter, grit in a Norton seems to be very rare and most often something introduced by the user.

Thanked: 2209An Ebay special frequently has old, oxidised, weak steel on the edge that develops microchips easily. Stay on the 4K until the old steel is worn off and the microchips are gone then move on to the conservative pyramid.

Thanked: 0i look at hone with microscop e and see small rocks in it. they are clear or white hard to tell. my sandpaper grit is black. the rockks are much bigger then sandpaper grit when i look with microscope. you can not see rocks without microscop e. rocks do not come out of hone. i talk to norton they said its a bad hone and to send back
