Success
Being the impatient person I am, I honed
a Wostenholm IXL blade yesterday. Set
the bevel and worked it on the Norton 4k/8k
until it passed all tests and finished it
off with the Chinese 12k. Unfortunately
I couldn't give it the most important
test, the shave, as I don't have the scales
for it yet.
But what's this in todays mail? The Wapi
I ordered from ebay. Did some conservative
pyramids and threw in some extra passes
on the 4k and 8k until it passed. Finished on
the Chinese 12k and sent it on its maiden
voyage. This was my second actual honing job
and took about 35 minutes and this thing
shaved like a dream. BBS!! What
a great feeling. I only hope the Wostenholm
shaves this good when it comes time.

Thanked: 335kerryman,
Congratulations! It feels awfully good when things turn out well, doesn't it? I got a bit smug when my honing went from dismal to acceptable, enough so that the next hone job went from acceptable to marginal.
cheers
