i have a few hones which i use with moderate success, unfortunately, i haven't a clue exactly what they are which makes it hard to really understand what it is im doing. does someone have the patience help me asses whats what, without pics...

I was just thinking, its quite common to come across unmarked hones, if someone would come up with a system of identifying at least grits it would be a big help when one is at a point of purchase.
