    Default steelex water stone

I just picked up a Japanese water stone at the local wood working store. It is listed as a 1k/6k combo. but looking at it the 1k side looks much finer then most other hones I have seen. Has any one ever worked with "steelex" hones. any Ideas how this might compare to other name brands in grit comparison?
