Droescher "Swaty"
I would like some help with this hone. It says swaty, looks like a Franz Swaty, but says S.R. Droescher. If anyone has seen one of these before can you tell me what Grit it is.
Or is it a Franz, with a Droescher name on it?
Kind regards,

Thanked: 9I just got a practically new one from my father. Haven't been able to find out what the grit is, just been told it's a damn fine hone. I'd love to hear anything you find out about yours!

S.R. Droescher made good straight razors.....perhaps these were some kind of a promo deal or made special for S.R. Droescher by Franz Swaty perhaps?

Here's an excerpt from one of Izlat's posts saying, "(Btw, Droescher also marketed a rebranded Swaty hone, arguably one of the best barber hones)."
Based on that statement, you both have a fine Swaty hone of around 10k to 12k grit.

Sticky,
Thanks, that's a search I missed. I wonder where the frictionite#24 falls in comaprison. Has anyone done a barbers hone listing, showing specs, just curious.
Kind regards,
Gerard

I'm not aware of a comparison post of different barber hones (doesn't mean there isn't one). I've thought about a good testing procedure and methodology for that very thing. Until my barber hone collection gets bigger, there's not much point in me trying it.
I've heard that the frictionite is a finer grit hone. I don't own one though, maybe another member can help you with that one.
