DMT w/ The Little Red Dots
Boy, do I feel stupid. I'm working out a nick on my DMT with the little red dots, when the edge of the tiny nick catches the edge of one of those damn dots and... you guessed it, nick turns into major chip. My wife will never believe I need another DMT considering I had to do a song, AND a dance for the lapper DMT I just bought!

This is why I bought the continuous plate, and not the one with holes in.
Of course I bought it also for lapping, where the holes would have made it easier to separate the plate and the stone.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I'll take the counter point here. I used my non-continuous 7 year old DMT plate to set a bevel on a Wostenholm and Sons IXL. I had no problem with catching using only the pressure generated from the weight of the blade. My only recommendation is that you try to work out the technique for using this stone on some junk razors and use TONS of water. In the old color coded system for DMT, mine is blue (ultra-fine). I would assume it is 1200 grit.

It also depends on the razor.
I don't forsee any prolems with a wostenholm, since they are generally a bit curved / smiling.
But a really straight spik point... I can see the point hitting one of those holes.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I've done minor bevel work on a Clauss on this as well, though it wasn't chip removal. I found that it would 'catch' a bit if I didn't use an x-pattern, but using this seemed to mitigate that effect. Unfortunately I don't have enough razors (or time) to find a definitive answer on the relative safety of this stone, but it seems to work out ok for my technique.

The catching is probably because your hone is new. I have the same hone, and I use it all the time on razors that need major work done to the edge. The edges of the holes smooth out quickly, and once they do you won't have trouble--even with spike points.
When DMTs are new they usually will chip a razor up pretty good.

A continuous DMT 1200 (D8E, D6E) works good on nicks.

yep...takes off the metal; kills the chip and sets a nice continuous bevel.
Still takes a while tho.
