Thanked: 351They sell those locally here at a place called Princess Auto... Yes, they are diamond hones but most of the ones I looked at look like taco chips and are very coarse. I think the finest might be around 220 grit. The plastic base is a form of semi-hard polyethylene, pre-warped from the manufacturing process....
Bottom line... save your money and buy some wet/dry paper and put a piece on top of your 4k/8k if you need to remove chips.

Thanked: 150DO NOT BUY THOSE!!!!!!!!!
They are terrible. They are not "flat" and the grit is very coarse/aggressive and imprecise. even if it says 400 grit (which is the highest those go) they are more like 220 in reality because the grit size varies so much.
Buy a diamond hone from Norton or DMT before you even think about touching one of those.
(and if you really cant afford the big names, and only want something to take chips out of edges and set bevels, I have one of these and it does work decently: http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Ultra-Sharp-...742.m153.l1262 DMT would be better, but these are cheap and work O.K.)Last edited by Russel Baldridge; 03-21-2008 at 09:39 PM.
