There were some posts in a Belgian hones thread too.
I think the main reason is because most hones look rather dull (at least when compared to straights). Some natural stones look great, but Nortons, DMTs and other man-made hones really aren't all that exciting to look at, IMO.

Thanked: 150I have a couple of hones that are picture worthy. Translucent Arkansas that is only flat and finished on the top surface while all other are jagged and rough, kinda neat. As well as a vintage coticule that came as part of an old four four sided paddle strop, three sides are leather, the fourth is the coticule. So those two out of about 12 would be photo worthy, but it is true that most stones are identical in appearance to other stones of the same variety, and thus a little boring.
