I don't know the exact model number of my DMT, but it's 1200 grit.
I use a spray bottle with 8 oz of water and five drops of dish detergent.

I have almost the full set of DMT Diasharp plates: 325, 600, 1200, and 8000 and they all get a few drop of water (recently tried water with a bit of soap and got positive results) before I commence honing of anything on them.
I haven't had problems with water staining or rusting yet.
