Thread: Which finishing paste should i use

After i have finished on my final polishin stone i e my 12k kitiyama i have read you can get a realy nice finish with a paste what paste would any one recomend and what would i apply paste to . I was thinking of buy 4 or 2 sidded paddle strop or may be a flat bed hone. any recomendations would help me thanxs gary.

From my own experience, for one razor now and then, a pasted strop with chromium oxide works great. For a lot of razors frequently, a bench hones works best for me. I have hones pasted with .5µ diamond paste, chromium oxide, red paste, black paste. I typically find the majority of the razors I hone seem to do well with the .5µ diamond paste, red paste then natural leather. This puts a killer edge and a nice polish on the blade.
