Thread: worn spine

I recently picked up an Ebay wedge. The photo didn't do justice to the heavy wear on the spine. I have no experience w/ honing a wedge.
Should I use tape or is there a limit to honing when the spine is so spent?

I have just learned that taping the spine is best for wedges.

Tape will speed up any process, and wedges are no different from a hollow razor in essence, just keep going through the motions until the edge is sharp.

The amount of hone wear only dictates the visual appeal, not the honablility (sp?) unless it is "deeper" in some spots. Most razors are hardened through and through, so you could essentially keep honing and shaving with it until there is nothing left.
