Thanked: 0A honing for a newbie?
Hi,
I recall, a bit less than a year ago, when I bought a straight from another member on this forum, that someone was offering free hones for newbies. I'd really like to take advantage of that if I could, because I've been reduced to using a shavette knockoff for the past few months. Not that this doesn't work -- but it just isn't the same as using the straight.
Some more info: I use a Wapienica, which I like very much, both for its inherent qualities and its history. I also purchased a Lithide hone, but it was not lapped, and try as I might, I could not get the blade as sharp as a simple razor replacement in my shavette knockoff. I could get a chip out that I had accidentally caused, but that was it.
So I am wondering if there is anyone here who would be kind enough to hone my Wapi and lap my Lithide for me as a one-time kindness. Or, if nobody is still offering that, whether someone might recommend me a place to do this cheaply -- no barber shop I've tried in the local area knows even where to begin.
Thanks!
