    Default 8k polishing

After coming of the 4k norton and starting to hone on the 8k side i have read this grit polishes the serrations from the blade does this process make the edge sharper or do i use 4 k side to develope a sharper edge. My edge is shaving but just feels like it could do with being a bit keener not sure witch side to go back to to create a sharper edge. thanxs gary

are you stropping properly after the 8000 ? try the norton pyramid and see if it works for you some use variations of it with success but as new to honing i would follow it have you considered trying a pasted paddle as well

The 8k grit side will be twice as fine as the 4k grit side and should bring the edge to a sharper line

I.ve just orderd a paddle strop from tony miller 1.0, 0.5 and chronium which i've heard it does help put a killer edge on your razor i own a thew razors all shave ready i strop them before every shave and get good shaves every time , my stropping pritty good as i have practised with old razors befor hand. The razor i have been honig was of a mate of mine and it was realy dull i have achieved a shave but feels a little rough even though razor shaves i have to double back on areas to pick up stubble so i no the razor is'nt performing as well as could do it's just that lynn says less strokes the better but i seem to have to do al ot more strokes than he recomends or other wise i'd be test shaving and honing for a good month or two.
