That sounds like work for another day
" By the way... you do leather carving right? even so it is worth while to treat yourself to one of the strops from Tony, he really has the art and science of making a very nice daily strop down perfectly "
Yes I do some leather carving, actually taught it to some of the local 4H kids for about 3 years. I just looked at his Artisan strops. WOW! those look awesome. I think your right those would be very hard to beat. They will definitely be a future purchase, hmmm if I could get my daughters horses to quit eating for a month their feed bill would buy me one of his strops
Hey Fathers Day is coming
I think the slips will be in the near future that way I can hone these ebay specials I have. Heck 1 or 2 sent to a honemeister would pay for that.
You said that you stack the slips, do they stay together well enough or do you brace them somehow?
Thanks to everyone for all the info so far. It gives me some areas to think about how I want to do things. My wife has gotten into using my DE to shave her legs and loves the badger and the soap, so now its time to go out to TGQ and Mama Bear and get some better soaps. We do a lot of things together so it helps make the costs easier to deal with. I am not advocating that doing everything the cheapest way possible is best for everyone. If I can get quality equipment inexpensively it works for me, means my shaving budget gets to go further.
So far I haven't jerry rigged anything, my duct tape & bailing wire are still in the tool box
