    Default Practice Razor

I've been told -- and I believe I'd read it in some of these posts -- that rather than ruin my good razor, I should get an inexpensive one to practice honing on. What does that mean? Should I just use the practice razor for shaving, honing it when I think it needs it and put my better one away for year?

What it means is get a razor from one of the guys here for like $40 or so. It will still give you a great shave and if you mis strop or drop it or ruin it practicing honing it won't be that big a deal. Once you are more confident in your skill then you can get a really nice razor but remember that an inexpensive razor does not mean a poor razor. There are plenty of very high quality vintage razor you can get for a song that you could shave with for the rest of your life and not be missing anything.
