Ok, on looking closer at the tip of my razor, I realized that there is a very small dent in the edge that I didn't notice before. So an over-honed edge is probably not my problem as I must haved dinged it somewhere along the line (though I cannot remember doing so).

So I see two options (tell me if I am wrong):
    1. I can use the frictionite (though it may not be efficient) to continuously hone and back hone until I wear the metal away past the dent.
    2. I can buy a stone of a coarser grit to wear the metal away and then finish on the finer grit (I have been considerin buying the popular Norton 4k/8k).
    Does this make sense?

Also, anyone familiar with the frictionite #24... can you give me at least an approximation on the grit just so I can start getting a feeling for what is what?

One more thing about over-honing an edge: at what grit do you start worrying about over-honing an edge? I imagine (from my readings) that if you are using, say a 4k grit stone, that you could hone the blade all day and not worry about over-honing. I think if you are using an 8k stone that you will have to concern yourself with that... is that approximately the point where you should start being careful not to over-hone?
