Thanked: 108"Coticule chronicles" is a superb thread started by JoshEarl. It's a classic; hopefully it wasn't lost in the great crash of '08. Basically it came about through a couple months of very intensive experimentation w/coticules and belgian blues by Josh and a few others. There's a lot in there about the versatility of the coticule: it's a surprisingly good cutter when used with lots of slurry, a good finisher w/light slurry, and a superb final polisher w/no slurry. Josh also describes how you can start with the yellow w/lots of slurry, then go to the blue w/normal slurry, then back to the yellow to finish up...seems counterintuitive, but the logic is explained in that thread and it works.
If you don't have a low-grit hone, you might want to check out LX Emergency's threads or even PM him. He went a year doing all sharpening on his coticule and in the process became a real pro on that stone.
